Para el viernes 28 de enero el invitado especial de El Dorado será poeta Jorge Etcheverry. En esta ocasión se re-lanzará su último libro de poemas titulado CRONIPOEMAS.
Jorge Etcheverry se inicia en el Grupo América y la Escuela de Santiago, agrupaciones poéticas de los 1960. En Canadá desde 1975, sus libros de poemas son El evasionista/the Escape Artist (Ottawa, 1981); La calle (Santiago, 1986); The Witch (Ottawa, 1986); Tánger (Santiago, 1990); Tangier (Ottawa, 1997); A vuelo de pájaro (Ottawa, 1998); Vitral con pájaros (Ottawa; 2002) Reflexión hacia el sur (Saskatoon, 2004) y Cronipoemas (Ottawa, 2010) En prosa, la novela De chácharas y largavistas, (Ottawa, 1993). Es autor de la antología Northern Cronopios, antología de narradores chilenos en Canadá, Canadá, 1993. Tiene prosa, poesía y crítica en Chile, Estados Unidos, Canadá, México, Cuba, España y Polonia. Es uno de los editores de Split/Quotation – La cita trunca y editor de su edición virtual en www.etcheverry.info. Esembajador en Canadá de Poetas del Mundo.
Habrá micrófono abierto para poesía, prosa y música.

On Friday, January 28, our featured guest will be Poet and Co-Founder of El Dorado, Jorge Etcheverry. This will be an opportunity to re launch his latest book of poems CRONIPOEMAS.
Jorge Etcheverry, born in 1945, is a former member of the School of Santiago and Grupo América from the 1960s. He lives in Canada and has published poetry, prose, criticism and various articles in several countries. His books of poetry are: The Escape Artist (1981); La Calle (1986); The Witch (1986); Tánger (1991); A Vuelo de Pájaro (1998); Vitral con Pájaros,(2004); and Reflexión Hacia el Sur (2004). Lately, he has appeared in anthologies such as Cien microcuentos chilenos (2002); Los poetas y el general (2002); Anaconda, Antología di Poeti Americani (2003); El lugar de la memoria. Poetas y narradores de Chile (2007); Latinocanadá (2007); Poéticas de Chile. Chilean Poets (2007); 100 cuentos breves de todo el mundo (2007); and The Changing Faces of Chilean Poetry: A Translation of Avant Garde, Women’s, and Protest Poetry (2008).
The reading begins at 7:30 P.M. UMI Cafe is located at 610 Somerset St.
There will be an open mic for poetry, prose and music.
